چکیده

Hyperacute rejection (HAR) is a well-known complication in renal and cardiac transplantation, but rare in lung recipients. We present a case of HAR of the lung graft with a fatal outcome of a male patient with preformed class II anti-HLA antibodies.

Antibody-mediated rejection in lung transplantation: myth or reality?

Whether antibody-mediated rejection after lung transplantation exists as an entity is debated by immunologists, histopathologists, and clinicians, without a strong consensus regarding diagnostic characteristics despite an increasing body of evidence that attests to a significant role in other solid organ transplant disciplines. Evidence for and against the protean manifestations of antibody-med...

Hyperacute rejection following lung transplantation.

Although hyperacute rejection has been clinically and pathologically fully described in recipients of other solid organ transplants, to our knowledge, there have been no previous fully documented cases in recipients of lung transplants. This case of clinical hyperacute rejection is corroborated by a positive, donor-antigen-specific IgG-mediated lymphocytotoxic crossmatch (LXM), and demonstrated...

Rapid progression of encephalopathy in a patient with hepatitis B infection.

The mortality rate of fulminant hepatic failure was high until liver transplantation was presented as a potential therapy. We encountered a patient with hyperacute fulminant hepatic failure due to hepatitis B virus infection. Living donor liver transplantation was planned but abandoned because her brain edema progressed too rapidly to complete the donor evaluation. The present case reveals the ...

Beneficial effects of perfluorotributylamine/pluronic F-68 stem-emulsion (FC43se) on discordant lung xenografts.

The aim of this study was to assess the effectiveness of Perfluorotributylamine/Pluronic F-68 Stem-Emulsion (FC43se) against hyperacute rejection in rabbit-pig xenodiscordant transplantation in an ex-vivo lung model. Rabbits were divided into two groups. In Group 1 (control), after extraction, the lungs were connected directly to the experimental circuit as soon as possible. The lungs were then...

Mechanism and modification of rejection of heterografts between divergent species.

THIS STUDY WAS UNDERTAKEN with several specific objectives: to evaluate the role of preformed heterospecific antibodies in causing hyperacute rejection of whole organs transplanted from dogs to pigs or pigs to dogs; to see how much this abrupt rejection could be mitigated by the antibody depletion that occurs with the use of successive organs; to establish the contribution of coagulation change...
